Twice a year, Russell and his wife go to Alabama to visit their daughter and three grandsons. They’ll spend 6 weeks at a time for each visit. Last time we checked, Hawaii and Alabama aren’t very close to each other. Getting to and from can be an expensive trip. Even though being close to family is priceless, being away from work for 6 weeks at a time requires the ability to save a good amount of money.
At the beginning of 2015, Russell started looking for part-time work after realizing he didn’t have as much spending money for his time with his grandchildren as he hoped. A friend told him about Uber, and at the time, he had no idea what it was all about. He went looking for more information online about the opportunity. After learning that he was able to use his own car to make money on his own schedule, he signed up and began driving shortly afterward.
Since starting with Uber, Russell has been able to use his earnings to spoil his grandsons the only way a grandfather can. In addition to visiting Alabama, he’s also taking the whole family to Disney World!
Russell’s keeps a photo of him and his family on the back of the front passenger’s headrest as a simple way of saying thank you to his riders. Right at the top of the photo it says, “I Uber for my grandsons. We all thank you”. His riders really seem to enjoy riding with him to help him obtain his goals. His rating is a 4.92 stars out of 5!
There are many partners like Russell who are using their time driving with Uber as a way to pursue their goals and passions – each one of them is unique and important. This story of Russell is just one of the great ones we had the privilege of hearing about.
