Changes to our Covid safety restrictions in Ireland
From Monday 21 March 2022, the Government will remove all remaining Covid restrictions in the Republic of Ireland.
As a result, it is no longer mandatory for riders and drivers in the Republic of Ireland to wear face coverings or sit in the backseat when riding with Uber, however it is still strongly encouraged.

‘Sit in the back’ policy
Sit in the back rider policy
It is no longer a requirement for riders in the Republic of Ireland to sit in the front seat when on a trip using the Uber platform. However, we still strongly encourage riders to sit in the back for personal space and safe exit on either side of the vehicle.
Regular vehicle capacity
Because the front seat is now accessible, this means that all vehicle capacity is back to its original capacity. For example, an Uber Taxi or Uber Black can now carry 4 passengers instead of 3.
