Baseball fans can vote online for their favorite player to make the all-star team. Residents can pay their parking tickets through the city’s secure website without ever stepping foot into City Hall. Yet the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission (MTC), an unelected governmental body in charge of whether uberX will ever be allowed in St. Louis, refuses to accept public comment via email.
In order to provide feedback to the MTC on important policy matters like ridesharing, you may only do so via fax, U.S. mail or by physically dropping off a letter at the MTC office. And tomorrow is the last day that they will accept such written feedback.
Enter UberLETTERS.
Uber will pick up your written feedback regarding ridesharing and deliver it to the MTC on your behalf.
HOW LETTERS ON-DEMAND WORKS:
1. Toggle to ‘LETTERS ’ at the bottom of your app (beginning 12pm on Monday, July 6th)
2. Tap ‘REQUEST LETTERS’
3. In just minutes we’ll pull up ready to deliver your message to the MTC!
UberLETTERS is 100% FREE
Tell the MTC why #STLNeedsuberX!
reduce drunk driving | better quality | income opportunities | safer alternative | reliability
PRO TIPS:
- Demand will be high – check back often if your first request is unsuccessful. We’ll be picking up letters until 4pm!
- Requesting for a group? The more the merrier! Multiple letters from friends and co-workers are welcome in a single pick-up
- The UberLETTERS coverage will extend from downtown STL through St. Louis County
Not in town this Monday afternoon, and not able to find a fax machine or carrier pigeon in your closet? Write a note here and we’ll print and deliver it on your behalf.
It’s disappointing that the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission fails to embrace modern technology like e-mail, at the expense of the good people of St. Louis not being able to voice their opinions.
In true Uber fashion, we are providing a better alternative to make that process as seamless, efficient, and fun as possible. On Tuesday afternoon we will gather all written feedback to hand deliver to the MTC by their July 7th deadline.
St. Louis needs alternative transportation options and the MTC has blocked rideshare services like uberX long enough. Make your voice heard and tell the MTC to welcome ridesharing to St. Louis with modern, responsible regulations like every other major city has done – not create more barriers to block it.
Thanks for your continued support – written and otherwise.
