For nearly two years, we’ve been moving Missouri. Across the state there are over 200,000 Uber riders and the demand for safe rides is growing every day.
Today, we’re excited to announce that legislation establishing modern regulations for ridesharing currently pending in Jefferson City would lead to our biggest investment yet in the state.
This legislation would allow Uber to:
- Create 10,000 new economic opportunities for drivers across the state
- Launch our platform in four new markets, including: Springfield, Independence, St. Charles, and Jefferson City
- All leading to millions in additional driver earnings
“This legislation provides a big economic boost for the state of Missouri”
– Rep. Kirk Mathews (R-Pacific)
And if enacted, the legislation would not only create 10,000 flexible earning opportunities for Missourians – it would also improve safety in Missouri communities by discouraging drunk driving and increasing transportation access in traditionally underserved areas.
Passing this legislation will allow Uber to invest more, create more economic opportunities, and grow the local economy.
The proposed bills are similar to laws enacted in 28 states across America, including Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Wisconsin and Indiana.
The rest of the country is embracing ridesharing. It’s time for Missouri to get the job done!
