Make sure everyone is safe

Collect contact info and document the crash
Ask for names and phone numbers from everyone involved. If there’s another driver, take photos of their license plate, registration, and insurance card. If you’re given a police report, be sure to save the information to share later.hese are helpful when reporting to Uber and your insurer.

Take photos or videos of all sides of vehicles and close-ups of damage; location, including roads and street signs and road conditions like skid marks, or emergency vehicles

    4. If you need to report a crash immediately, you can also speak directly with a trained agent by going to the Help section of your Driver app and selecting Call Support. If you’re a rider, you can use the Safety Incident Reporting Line, found in the Ride Details screen in the Activity section of the Uber app.
  • Some people who drive with Uber are commercially licensed and insured for limousine, livery, black car, or private hire. Drivers seeking coverage for crashes on these trips should contact their commercial automobile insurance in addition to reporting the crash to Uber here.

In Barbados, regulatory mandates dictate that all licensed taxi vehicles must carry compulsory commercial auto insurance. For rides facilitated through the Uber platform, this existing commercial auto policy, held by the taxi driver, remains the primary and mandatory source of accident coverage, consistent with local statutory and liability requirements.

How to report an accident?

If you were involved in an accident, follow these steps:

  1. Stay calm and make sure all people involved are safe.

  2. If you consider it necessary, call the police and any emergency services you deem appropriate.

  3. Should you, a passenger, or any third party sustain injuries, report the accident to your insurance company (taxi insurance policy) immediately to activate your commercial policy.

  4. Report the incident through the Uber Driver app:

  • Go to the main menu
  • Select the "Safety" option
  • Go to the "I was involved in an accident" tab
  • Complete the requested information

Once you send your report, the Support team will review the details and take the appropriate actions
