uberPET is a pet-friendly ride option with driver-partners who are comfortable with having pets in their car

Why are we launching uberPET?

We understand it can be tricky when riders come on-board with their pets, so we are working towards creating a better driving experience for you.

Let us know if you would be comfortable having riders with their household pets (dogs, cats, etc) in your car. The trip fare will be the same as uberX and we will add $2 to the trip fare for every trip you complete on uberPET.

Note: We will add the $2/trip surcharge in your payment statement at the end of every week and it will be subjected to the usual Uber fees ($1.60 after fees).

We will be handing out free pet biscuits at the UberHUB (29 Paya Lebar Rd). So head down from today till Friday, 20 Oct at 4pm, to get them so you can offer your riders' cats and dogs a yummy treat!

Look out for uberPET requests in your request screen when it launches at the end of the week. We will be notified one day before launch.

How it looks

When you receive an uberPET request, you will notice it on the request screen similar to the right.

  • The uberPET trip fare will be the same as uberX but with a $2 surcharge on the rider side
  • All uberPET trips count towards your incentives as per normal

  • What is the fare for uberPET trips?

    It will be priced the same as uberX, with a $2 booking fee on the rider side.

  • What type of animals are allowed on uberPET?

    All household pets are allowed on uberPET. This includes dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, hamsters, birds in cages and fish in bowls or plastic bags.

  • Can more than 1 animal be on board uberPET?

    uberPET is guaranteed a safe ride for 1 pet. If you have more pets, it will be left to the discretion of the driver to take them on board.

  • Does the animal need to be caged?

    Only birds are required to be caged on uberPET rides. We strongly encourage all riders to ensure their pets are on a leash or kept in their carrier during the trip to ensure the safety of the animals and the driver partner. All animals must be accompanied by a rider on the trip.

  • Who is responsible for the cleaning charges?

    The rider is solely responsible for the animal and its behaviour during the entire trip.

    In the case of incidents, where car cleaning will be necessary (urine, poo, vomit, etc.) and/or any damage caused to vehicles due to the use of uberPET, riders must pay for the cleaning fee. Cleaning fees may vary depending on the type of damage caused.

    Minor incidents such as fur shedding will not be charged to the user.

  • Is there insurance coverage for the animal on board?

    Animals are not insured on uberPET rides.

  • What if a rider has a pet but requests for an uberX?

    It is up to your discretion to either continue with the trip (you will be forgoing the $2 surcharge) or kindly ask the rider to cancel the trip and request an uberPET. You will still receive the $5 cancellation fee if the trip is cancelled 5 minutes after you have accepted the trip.

  • What if the next passenger is sensitive to dogs?

    We strongly encourage driver-partners to ensure the car is cleaned up for the next rider, and provide tips on how to ensure it’s in good condition for all riders.

  • Are uberPET trips counted towards incentives?

    Yes, uberPET trips counted towards incentives.
