常见问题

What is uberASSIST?

uberASSIST is a vehicle option that offers additional assistance to members of the senior and physically disabled community.

uberASSIST vehicles can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers and collapsible scooters, but do not have wheelchair-accessible ramps or lifts. Driver partners will be trained and educated by accredited training centres on how to assist riders with disability and mobility challenges, such as how to help transfer riders safely from wheelchair to the car.

How can I sign up to be an uberASSIST driver?

Due to overwhelming demand, we are not able to accommodate additional driver sign-ups for uberASSIST training at the moment. However, once additional classes become available, invites will be sent to drivers who qualify to be an uberASSIST driver-partner based on their vehicle type, driver ratings and experience.

If you have previously signed up for uberASSIST training, we will contact you in the coming weeks for more information.

What are the rates? Will I also get uberX requests?

Fares are the same as uberX, however, uberASSIST trips will only have a 10% service fee for each ride. This means driver-partners take home more. You may receive both uberX and uberASSIST requests.

What if I would like to opt out of uberASSIST?

We are definitely sad to see you go, as we know you’ve spent time and effort obtaining uberASSIST training.

If you would like to opt out of uberASSIST, please fill up the form here and we’ll process the request within 2 working days.

I have affixed the uberASSIST decal. Is this officially recognised by the LTA, HDB, or Traffic Police (ie. can I park in handicap slots or waiting areas)?

The decal aims to let other road users identify you better, hopefully encouraging them to be more patient, especially when you are helping any uberASSIST riders.

Unfortunately, it’s not officially recognised by the LTA, HDB or other government organisations.

Are uberASSIST trips counted towards my incentives?

Yes, uberASSIST trips will count towards your incentives.

Will I have to drive longer to make pickups?

Considering that there are less uberASSIST drivers than regular uberX drivers, dispatch will likely be slightly longer. We appreciate your patience and dedication to ensure that riders who need your assistance have options to get around.

To continuously improve the experience on both sides, we also hope that the pool of uberASSIST driver-partners will increase in future with more training sessions offered.

Do I have to pay for the training to be an uberASSIST driver?

No, the training will be fully sponsored for those who are eligible for this programme.

Testimonials

"I'm very grateful to be able to apply what I've learnt during the training session to assist a wheelchair user yesterday. Thanks to the course, I've become more confident to assist—even the rider’s son was so impressed that he called me "POWER UNCLE". I felt so good and found it so meaningful. Thanks to Uber and Aaxonn, I have the opportunity to be trained to assist the physically disabled passengers." — Mr. Goy

"Experts were helpful with our queries and I learnt things from them which would definitely come into use." — Mdm. Williams

"I picked up a rider who had a stroke and the entire left side of his body was paralysed. The training taught us to "ask first" to determine whether the passenger needed our help so I politely asked him and he declined. The rider managed to enter the vehicle himself even though he took more time than most of us would take. I remained patient, as emphasised during the course, and sent him home. He was grateful for my patience and so was I for the experience." — Mr. Brown
