Private Hire Car Driver’s Vocational Licence (PDVL)
For Permanent Residents and Foreigners
What is PDVL?
As of July 1,2017, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) require that all private hire car drivers hold a Private Hire Car Driver’s Vocational Licence (PDVL) to drive on ridesharing platforms.
You can find more information about PDVL here.
How does it impact me?
All Singaporean Permanent Resident and Foreign Work Pass Holders may apply for the PDVL only if they are employed by a chauffeured services company.
PR drivers are required to provide an employment letter (with job title ”Chauffeured Services Driver”) from a chauffeured services company in order to submit their PDVL application.
Work Pass Holders applying for PDVL must submit a copy of their Work Permit (stating "Chauffeur" as Vocation) and Certificate of Conduct along with their employment letter.
How can I seek employment
You can choose between two main options:
1. Be employed by one of Uber's preferred fleet partners present at UberHUB.
Drivers who choose to be employed by one of Uber's preferred fleet partners at UberHUB can enjoy special Fleet Partner Packages.
Please note that Uber does not take any responsibility for any agreement signed between employers and drivers.
2. Seek employment through any other company registered as “Private Car For Hire” on ACRA (Business Code: 49219).
Do note that driver cannot be owner of company.
To learn more about your options, come to uberHUB anytime from 10am-6pm Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday.
