Optimized uberPOOL service fee
We are making uberPOOL better for you!
After running a pilot programme for a few months and thanks to your feedback, we are making improvements to uberPOOL earnings, to ensure more stable net take home earnings i.e. your profits.
Optimizing Service Fee on uberPOOL trips
Not all matched trips are the same and we want to ensure your trip fares are adjusted so that your earnings are more consistent, even if it means Uber takes a lower service fee!
More stable uberPOOL earnings
We’re excited to announce we will be optimising the service fee for uberPOOL trips, to ensure more stable uberPOOL earnings for you.
Variable Service Fee
With the new uberPOOL variable service fee, in cases such as the above, we are likely to take less than a 10% service fee, so that your uberPOOL earnings are similar to uberX.
Similarly, on trips with a lot of overlap and multiple rider pickups, your service fee may be higher than usual.
To improve the experience and increase transparency, you will now be able to view the total fare and service fee upon accepting your uberPOOL trip.
With this change, we will be updating how you view your fares in the app and on the web too.
How do I view my fares?
For uberPOOL trips, you will now see your earnings for the entire chain of trips as one total amount. This way, it will be easier to see what you have earned from the first pickup to the very last drop off.
Note: each individual trip along an uberPOOL chain will still count as a separate trip towards your incentives.

Our goal is to make uberPOOL a great experience for you. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let us know!
We are constantly innovating to ensure we are bringing the best uberPOOL experience to you and will keep you informed every step of the way.
How does this variable service fee work?
We are aiming to make your uberPOOL earnings more stable, and more aligned with your earnings on uberX trips. Our system will now compare your earnings received for the entire uberPOOL chain (i.e. all the riders matched along the same trip) factoring time, distance to what your earnings would have been if the same trip had been an uberX trip.
If your earnings for the entire uberPOOL chain are below what you would have received on an equivalent uberX trip, the service fee may be lower. If your earnings for the entire uberPOOL chain is higher than what you would have received on an equivalent uberX trip, the service fee may be higher.
*Note: This new system replaces the previous 10% service fee for unmatched trips and 30% service fee for matched trips on uberPOOL, and the service fee is now variable. Service fees on uberX trips remain fixed at 20%
Are my uberX trips affected?
No, the way your uberX fares and earnings are calculated is not affected at all
How do Cancellation fees work?
With the new feature, uberPOOL Cancellation fees will be charged a flat 20% service fee (same as uberX) i.e. you will be paid $4.80 for Cancellation Fees, after removing 20% off the $6 Cancellation fee.
