About the Role

 

As the Chief of Staff for EMEA JUMP Operations, you will partner with our Regional General Manager for JUMP in EMEA to drive operational excellence and efficiency, define and support an effective operating model, create frameworks for collaboration across multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams, facilitate organizational communication cadence, and provide strategic oversight and guidance to organization-wide plans and projects.

 

The Chief of Staff is a both a strategic and tactical, hands-on role directly supporting our Operations and the growth of our New Mobility business. This is a critical role to ensure the EMEA Operations organization is able to execute on key initiatives that will impact the global organization. On top, this role will be a key sparrings partner to the JUMP EMEA leadership team and support our mission.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor and confidential sounding board to the Regional General Manager of JUMP in EMEA.
  • Be entrepreneurial. Find ways to leverage Uber's scale and capabilities while overcoming internal and external obstacles to compete with hyper-aggressive, fast growing start-up competitors.
  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength.
  • Drive cross-functional process around defining, prioritizing, creating action plans, and monitoring progress on strategic projects for EMEA JUMP Operations.
  • Develop strategies in partnership with the EMEA Jump leadership team to drive effective cross-functional and cross-collaboration alignment.
  • Actively participate in creating and delivering key updates for leadership and cross-functional/external stakeholders.
  • Identify and take on ad-hoc strategic projects - everything from leading very detailed operations projections to executing cross-functional initiatives, and closing the gaps in business and operations.
  • The Chief of Staff succeeds at facilitating the EMEA RGM’s vision while enabling other members of the leadership team to work together and get decisions at the top made faster.
  • Build our EMEA operating cadence from the ground up; serve as a thought leader, consistently bring key insights and recommendations to Director and leadership
  • Serve as the “glue” that helps connect our leaders across cities and regions
  • Look for ways to encourage and scale best practices across the US&C
  • Manage the team operating cadence at the highest level to ensure all hands, leadership meetings, and other structures are appropriate and facilitate effective and timely communication.
  • Build Relationships: Interface with other functional areas (Finance, Product, Marketing, Public Affairs, Legal, Engineering, People Operations, etc.) to drive effective collaboration and delivery of work.
  • Advise and support the evolution of the organizational structure, including reporting org, leadership recommendations, and other business architecture needs.
  • Plan agendas and ensure follow-up and accountability on action items from conversation and meetings.
  • Find Facts and Uncover Insights: Leverage our rich dataset to help improve our collective understanding of what our customers love and hate about the Jump experience. Uncover opportunities for efficiency and growth from algorithmic tweaks to tectonic shifts in strategy.

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • 7+ years of operations management, business consulting, or related experience managing operations/logistics, building and leading diverse teams, developing and optimizing processes, and achieving operational goals; some entrepreneurial experience is preferred.
  • BA/BS with impressive academic record. MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset. Proven to be self-motivated, self-directed, and eager to take ownership of ambiguous tasks to ensure success.
  • Analytical Thinking. Data-driven mentality and strong business judgment. Able to roll up your sleeves and analyze data to pull key insights, and then work with different teams to execute on those insights.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build relationships with cross-functional colleagues.
  • Black belt in problem-solving with a "Get It Done" attitude.
  • An extremely organized critical thinker - your project plans are always detailed, up to date, and digestible, and you're comfortable setting and holding people accountable to deadlines.
  • Clear Communicator. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly and highlight the key insights.
  • Leadership by example. Able to motivate, inspire and create an inclusive and positive work environment for all.
  • High comfort in working under pressured, time-sensitive, and rapidly evolving situations.
  • A passion for e-mobility and JUMP. Passionate about the overall goals of sustainable transportation.
