About the Role

 

The Head of Operations, Safety & Compliance role is a unique opportunity to lead a strategic and impactful operations team within Uber’s Rides business for Europe, Middle East & Africa. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Regional Operations, you will be responsible to drive our strategies in three key business priorities; user safety, operational compliance, and financial fraud.

 

This is an operational role, with robust stakeholder management required with functional and local teams. You are expected to be a strong thought partner to regional leadership and local business leaders on the best approach for long-term sustainable growth and competitive advantage, in addition to leading a team of diverse, high performing operations managers.

 

We're looking for someone who has experience with managing large teams, has demonstrated the ability and willingness to ‘roll-up sleeves’ and get involved with operations. We want a creative thinker who will drive innovative solutions, while also holding firm to “do what is right”. They need to have the emotional intelligence to manage a large team in a fast paced environment, including a diverse set of stakeholders all over the world.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Forge deep connections with headquartered functional teams and local operations teams - partnering closely to enable Uber EMEA for sustainable growth through high impact programs executed both centrally and localized where appropriate
  • Advocate for EMEA’s Safety & Compliance needs while being the voice of Safety & Compliance in cross-functional strategy discussions between Operations, Product, Marketing, Community Ops, Legal, Policy etc
  • Leverage local insights and global best practices to develop Uber EMEA's safety & compliance roadmap and guide various teams through its implementation.
  • Drive centralization efforts across the region’s systems, processes, and tech in order to drive efficiency and effectiveness of programs
  • Establish a culture of “safety first” and “doing the right thing” within Uber Operations, even when not popular, by setting the right tone from the top
  • Motivate and leverage existing and new team members to continually up-level their results, expectations, and stretch for increasingly higher levels of impact across all core operational metrics

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • 8+ years of deep, hands-on management of functions that included combinations of the following: operations, business analytics, customer loyalty and retention, and project management
  • Unparalleled business judgement and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to quickly establish the highest value priorities and develop a strategy to pursue them
  • Quantitative data analysis, deep actionable insights, modelling, and advanced test plan design and analysis experience
  • High energy and motivational leadership driven by personal influence and example with direct staff, peers, and senior leaders across all company functions
  • Experience working closely and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid growth environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong experience managing cross-functional teams across multiple offices and territories
