About the Role

 

As a Product Manager for Marketplace Health, you will help define vision, strategy, and roadmap for one of the key platforms at Uber that is responsible for understanding and optimizing the market balance and customer experience across all our cities. You will work closely with world-class Engineering teams, Product Managers, Data scientists, and Global Operations, to build a state of the art system that impacts Uber’s business and customers every step of the way.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Define the broad, long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Marketplace Health team
  • Internalize and deeply understand how our internal teams define and measure the health of our marketplaces.
  • Innovate with our Engineering, Data Science to redefine the science behind managing the balance of a real-time  2-sided marketplace.
  • Coordinate large engineering efforts including identifying potential technical risk, communicate requirements, and manage stakeholders. Strong understanding of technical systems within their team, dependent teams, and across Uber. Be an effective partner for engineering leads and managers across their product teams.
  • Collaborate with Uber internal stakeholders, including the product operations, data science, policy and global operations teams to ensure that our technology supports Uber’s business objectives and that it can be scaled to meet the demands and constraints of every global market.

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • A passion for shipping magical, data science-driven products.
  • At least 5 years of product management experience.
  • An ability to infect teams with this passion by overseeing implementation of quality monitoring, alerting, mitigation, and retrospective process.
  • Experience working in a metrics and experimentation driven organization
  • Strong customer empathy, with an ability to transform complex data and customer insights into a prioritized roadmap

 

Bonus Points For

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Academic background in data science, statistics, economics, or engineering

 

About the Team

 

The Marketplace group builds the platform, products, and algorithms responsible for the real-time execution and online optimization of Uber's marketplace. We are building the brain of Uber, solving NP-hard algorithms and economic optimization problems at scale, in real time, making all of the decisions for Uber’s marketplaces based on up-to-the-second data as well as forecasts of the future.
