UberWorks operates as a startup within Uber - we have ambitious goals and objectives and need a strong, action-oriented City General Manager to join our team. The City General Manager will own all operations and build his/her team from the ground up. As a key member of the leadership team, you will help shape the product and strategic direction.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Oversee operations: be truth-seeking with data and set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively. If it’s operations, it’s your responsibility, so we want someone who can set concrete processes and execution plans, move fast, and be biased toward action.
    • Supply sourcing and deployment: ensure that we are effectively and efficiently matching supply with demand. You will be sourcing worker partners and successfully deploying them to our business partners, maximizing worker partner engagement along the way.
    • Business engagement: Your team will be responsible for developing, testing and implementing different strategies for recruitment and ongoing engagement with our business partners.
    • Support / account management: our business is based around providing a flexible, on-demand workforce for our business partners - it’s imperative that we have intuitive and responsive account management to support for our business partners in addressing their needs promptly.
  • Define and execute strategic vision: set & translate business goals into operational plans that will guide the operational success of the product.
  • Hire & manage ops team.
  • Manage vendors: ensure that our vendor partners are providing the services and resources necessary for your operations team to succeed.
  • Define tech requirements: translate feedback from operations in technical / product requirements to improve the overall service

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • Grit, and willingness to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on; you persevere when others fall away.
  • 2+ years in an L4/L5 managerial role with 3+ direct reports
  • Strong interest in the on-demand labor space
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Attention to detail balanced with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well.
  • A self-starter attitude:
  • Unafraid to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to be on call when the product is busiest (often nights, weekends, and holidays). You are responsible for realtime ops, 24/7. We’ll develop automated support to help you and your team, but you will own all reliability metrics

UberWorks is pioneering a platform for flexible, on-demand work. Our team has successfully conducted pilots in LA and Chicago, showing rapid growth in food service, hospitality, and entertainment verticals, and is now looking to expand further. The operations team works closely with product and engineering to define a best-in-class experience for workers and businesses.
