About the Role

 

The User Experience Research team’s mission is to inform and influence product decisions with exceptional insights about people, technology and services in our current and future world. At Uber, we spend our days bridging the gap between physical and digital experiences, and adding value to people’s everyday lives by creating transportation options and economic opportunities. If you’re a researcher unafraid to push the limits and looking to work with sharp, motivated co-workers in a fun office environment, we’d love to talk with you.

 

We’re hiring a researcher to help create memorable experiences for any and all users on the Uber platform, and improve Uber products like UberEats, the Driver app, the Rider App and our other emerging products. You will help grow our talented research team based in 8 different cities that represent 6 countries, and they support products used in over 400 cities in which Uber operates.

 

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct qualitative research (user studies, interviews, ethnography, secondary research, intercepts) on multiple aspects of how users experience Uber products according to stakeholder objectives and needs.
  • Triangulate qualitative research with inputs from Data Science, Surveys, Market Research and Secondary data.
  • Collaborate closely with other researchers, designers, product managers, data scientists, marketing and operations managers, and engineers to ensure research you deliver is integrated into every aspect of the product and provides a holistic view of our users.
  • Adapt and innovate research methods to meet product needs by delivering high quality insights in a fast paced work environment, and contextualising for specific use cases across products such as car rides, food delivery, and couriers.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to project stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations, and demonstrate impact.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence.
  • Build empathy across the organisation to improve the products we build for our riders, driver-partners, couriers, and employees in cities all around the world and always champion for our users.
  • Deliver high quality work with light managerial supervision.

What You'll Need

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum 3 years of work experience in an applied research setting.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese.
  • Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
  • Organised, detail oriented and able to work independently on multiple projects at once.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent assessment and analysis skills.
  • Self starter, taking initiative keeping relevant partners in the loop.
  • Open to feedback, great at implementing it back into one’s work quickly.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with office productivity tools including email, web browser, web apps, database search, spreadsheets/word processors (Google Apps).

Bonus Points

  • Previous experience conducting research in different markets and working on products with global impact.
  • Ability to fluently communicate in Spanish.
  • Experience with remote usability testing tools, such as UserZoom.
  • Experience as an interaction designer.
  • Strong quantitative research skills.
  • Familiarity with a programming language commonly used for data manipulation and computational statistics (such as Python, R, Matlab, C++, Java or Go), and in SQL.

The User Experience team is a vital part of our Product Organisation. In this team you will have the opportunity to work with product teams to shape the experience of drivers, riders, eaters, couriers, restaurants with the Uber platform.
