How to use your commuter benefits card
- Where is this payment option available?
Currently, this option is available to Pool riders in all US cities that offer Pool, except Nashville and Portland.
- Is there a limit to how many rides I can take?
The IRS sets the maximum limit for pre-tax transit commuting benefits. (For example, the maximum monthly contribution is $265 in 2019.) You can apply all money up to the contribution limit toward UberPool trips. Once your commuter benefits card balance runs out for the month, you'll need to switch to another payment method.
Note: You'll need to set your monthly contribution amount with your benefits provider.
- What is UberPool?
UberPool is our carpool option that matches you with riders heading in your direction so you can share your ride and the cost. UberPool is cheaper than UberX—up to 55% cheaper in some cities.
After you enter your destination—an address, a venue name, or simply an intersection—then choose UberPool. We'll show a guaranteed upfront price before you request, so unless you change your destination mid-ride or you ask your driver to take a route that is out of the way, you'll always know what you're going to pay.
