Uber Premium

A car that’s 6 years old or less (2014 model or newer as of 2020) and listed as eligible.

Vehicles must meet the following requirements:

• Model year 2008 or newer
• 4-door car or SUV Seats and seatbelts for at least 4 passengers, plus the driver
• Good condition with no cosmetic damage
• No commercial branding

Uber reserves the right to change vehicle requirements and eligibility criteria.

You must meet the following requirements in addition to the vehicle requirements:

• Have completed 20 trips or more
• Keep a star rating of 4.6 or higher

Rating

If you are activated to drive Uber Premium after August 1, 2019, you must meet the following requirements in addition to the vehicle requirements:

• Have a rating of 4.8 or above
• Beginning September 8, 2019, all drivers will need to have a rating of 4.8 or above and have completed 25 total trips

Registration

Uber accepts both official and temporary registration documents. The vehicle does not need to be registered in your name to qualify.

Insurance

All drivers must maintain their own insurance policy in accordance with state and local laws. In addition, Uber maintains automobile liability insurance on behalf of all U.S. drivers.

Uber decal

• Under New York State ridesharing regulations, each driver must display an Uber decal on his or her vehicle while online. Once you become a driver on the Uber platform, we will mail you a decal. You should receive it within 7 business days.

• While you wait for your Uber decal to arrive, you can print and use this temporary decal.

• Remember that, as a driver, you are required by law to display this decal whenever you are online.

• According to the ridesharing regulations, the decal must be placed in the bottom passenger-side corner on the inside of your front windshield, facing outward. You can remove it when you decide to go offline and save it for the next time you decide to go online.
