Uber Black and Premier Updates in Detroit and Ann Arbor

As of September 24, we made changes to premium ride options across Detroit and Ann Arbor to make premium rides available in more places.

• Uber Black and Black SUV: Continue to be available in Downtown Detroit, Birmingham, and Royal Oak, exclusively to eligible professional, commercially licensed drivers.
• Premier and Premier SUV: Available across the Detroit area outside Downtown Detroit, Birmingham, and Royal Oak, and throughout Washtenaw County, including Ann Arbor. In these areas, Premier and Premier SUV will be available to eligible professional drivers and other highly rated drivers with vehicles that meet Uber Black or Black SUV vehicle eligibility standards.
• Premier and Premier SUV at DTW Airport: Continue to be available at DTW Airport under separate vehicle eligibility requirements. Professional drivers are not eligible to receive Premier or Premier SUV requests from DTW Airport at this time.

• In Downtown Detroit, Birmingham, and Royal Oak: Continue receiving Uber Black and Black SUV requests, which remain exclusive to eligible professionally licensed and insured drivers.
• Outside these areas and throughout Washtenaw County: Receive Premier and Premier SUV requests alongside other eligible drivers. On eligible Premier trips, you’ll receive the Commercial Supplement¹, an additional payment available only to professionally licensed and insured drivers.

For other eligible drivers

You can receive Premier and Premier SUV requests across the expanded Detroit service area and throughout Washtenaw County if you:

• Maintain a 4.9+ rating
• Have completed at least 250 trips
• Drive a vehicle that meets Uber Black or Black SUV vehicle eligibility standards
• Have Premier enabled in your Driver Preferences

Please note: Vehicle eligibility requirements for Premier and Premier SUV differ at DTW Airport. Some vehicles may be eligible to receive Premier or Premier SUV trips from DTW Airport even if they do not meet the requirements listed below.
