Driving at Nashville International Airport (BNA)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Rules and regulations

Airport Regulations for Earners

Per airport regulations, Earners must adhere to the terms below while on airport property. Failure to do so may result in the receipt of a citation or even restriction of access to airport trips. Please note that Uber will not pay for any citations that driver-partners may incur.

  • When on airport property, the Uber driver app must be open at all times (Earners must not go offline until exiting the airport area).
  • Earners may wait for requests in the designated waiting area located at 602 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 (see map below).
  • Earners waiting elsewhere will not receive trip requests through the Uber driver app.
  • Waiting at terminals or elsewhere on airport property is prohibited and may result in a citation.
  • All ride pickups, including Re-Match, must occur at the Ground Transportation Center, across from the main terminal (see map below).
  • The Uber vehicle decal (trade dress) must always be displayed on the front passenger windshield facing outward. Driver-partners can obtain this Uber decal at their local Greenlight Hub or fill out this form to receive one by mail.

Pro tips:

  • Driver cancellations: Trip cancellations can take away from the great Uber experience that both Riders and Earners expect. Please remember that Earners who improperly use the app and intentionally disrupt the service, including excessively canceling rides or asking riders to cancel rides, may lose the ability to receive trip requests to and from the airport through the Uber Driver app.

  • Ground transportation and airport security staff: Airport rules are as important as traffic rules. Airports expect Earners to follow the instructions of the airport staff.

  • Parking and waiting: Airport rules state that you may not wait for requests anywhere other than the designated waiting area shown below. If the lot is full, you may return at a later time. You may not park in spaces not designated for rideshare vehicles.

Reporting Issues and Emergencies at BNA:

The airport has asked that driver-partners only call the Airport Communications Center (ACC) in the event of an airport-related emergency. Such events include, but are not limited to:

  • situations that are or could become violent
  • use of drugs or alcohol
  • vehicle accidents

Earners with non-emergency concerns should not call the ACC and instead are advised to speak directly to the guard stationed in the BNA waiting lot. Such situations include:

  • reporting a vehicle not displaying a decal or placard
  • blocked traffic
  • vehicles improperly parked

Pickups at the airport

How pickup requests work

It is easy to receive trip requests from riders leaving the airport. However, these trips work a little differently than other requests.

Waiting for requests

Based on the operating agreement with the airport, the waiting area is located at 602 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 (see map below).

In order to receive trip requests while at BNA, you need to enter the designated queue zone. You will then be placed in a virtual queue to receive a trip request.

Some things to know about designated queue zones:

  • Proximity to the terminal within the designated queue zone does not create an advantage for Earners or move you closer to the top of the queue
  • If there are no Earners in the designated queue zone, trip requests will go to Uber Earners in the area - outside of the designated queue zone - based on proximity and other factors
  • You can lose your place in line if:
  1. You go offline on your Uber driver app
  2. You drive outside the designated queue zone
  3. You do not accept multiple incoming trip requests in a row
  4. You cancel multiple rides (if the Rider cancels, you will remain in the queue)

Picking up your rider

Once you accept a trip request, the pickup location is located at the Ground Transportation Center, across from the main terminal (see map below).

Pre-Match feature

In addition to regular requests, we’ve also launched the Pre-Match feature at BNA. Pre-Match will prompt Earners in the waiting lot to begin heading toward the airport terminal a few minutes before an anticipated ride request. That way, Earners can get as close as possible to the terminal before receiving a pickup request, which minimizes idle time.

Dropoffs at the airport

How dropoff requests work

Based on the operating agreement with the airport, riders can be dropped off on Level 3 in the commercial dropoff lane (stay in the far left lane on Level 3). If you’d like to receive a trip request afterward, you’ll need to keep the Uber driver app on to maintain your place in the queue.

Re-Match feature

We’ve also launched the Re-Match feature at BNA. To qualify for Re-Match, Earners must first complete a dropoff at the airport. Re-Match then allows any Earner who just completed an airport dropoff to temporarily receive a pickup request and complete a pickup without having to go to the waiting lot. Once you drop off at the airport, you may head toward the TNC waiting area to wait in the designated driver queue for an airport pickup request. Upon navigation to the waiting lot, you may receive a Re-Match request. Airport regulations prohibit loitering in the terminal area. Idling at the curb may result in a citation from airport authorities.
