Everyone who drives with Uber is screened before their first trip, and on an ongoing basis. It’s part of our commitment to help keep you safe when you ride with Uber.
Prospective drivers must undergo a multi-step safety screen that checks for issues including, but not limited to, driving violations, impaired driving, and violent crime.
We use technology that proactively obtains criminal offenses from a number of data sources. If an offense involving an active driver is identified, we’ll review these notifications to determine whether they’re still eligible to drive with Uber.
Uber proactively reruns driving* and criminal history checks every year to ensure that drivers continue to meet our standards.
Drivers are periodically asked to take a photograph of themselves, which we match against their on-file identification to help make sure the right driver is behind the wheel.
Uber reviews all reports submitted to our customer support team that may violate our Community Guidelines. Not following any of our guidelines may result in the loss of access to your Uber accounts.
A high rating recognizes people’s efforts, while a low rating can provide helpful feedback. And repeated low ratings can result in deactivation.
