How pickup requests work

Santa Maria Airport (SMX) is now approved for Uber dropoffs and pickups. Each airport has its own unique rules and regulations, so make sure to read these before heading over to Santa Maria Airport.

  • Pick up and drop off in the designated areas at the airport. You don’t have to wait in a holding lot, just make sure your rider is ready to go–idling by the curb is prohibited.
  • Display your trade dress on both the front and rear windshields–you don’t need a permit for this airport, but you will need a prearranged waybill for every trip–it's in your app.
  • Have your proof of insurance, driver's license, and registration handy. Airport officials may ask to see these documents and your prearranged waybill.

Riders will be charged a $2.50 airport surcharge. This will be included automatically in their price and does not affect your earnings.

It is illegal under state and federal law for anyone, including rideshare drivers, to engage in price fixing. This includes agreeing or coordinating with other drivers (in airport staging lots or elsewhere) on pricing and surge pricing. The law requires that drivers must make decisions about pricing and surge pricing on their own.

We're currently working with airports around Southern California for transportation network company (TNC) permits. We'll be sure to keep drivers updated as we make progress.
