Uber Carshare ceased operations on 11 September 2024

Uber Carshare ceased operations on 11 September in the US and Canada. Below is the key information Uber Carshare borrowers should know.

  • The last day for borrowers to start a new booking will be 26 August in the US and Canada.

    Any bookings scheduled to start after 27 August will be canceled. Borrowers with canceled bookings will be refunded by 1 September.

    The last day for vehicles to be on the road will be 11 September in the US and Canada. If you are on a booking between 27 August and 12 September:

    • You will not be allowed to extend the booking;
    • You must return the vehicle before the final date of 11 September in the US and Canada;

    If you would like to cancel an upcoming booking, there will be no fee charged to your account. If you are charged in error, we will refund your account in the coming days.

    We understand this may be inconvenient, so here are some options to help you make alternate travel arrangements:

    • Uber Rent allows you to book with traditional rental car companies conveniently within the Uber app.
  • Yes, you will be refunded in full for your canceled bookings.

    You will receive your refund by 1 September. If you have not received it by then, please reach out to support.

  • For borrowers who have a positive balance on Uber Carshare, we will attempt to pay your card on file on 12 September 2024.

    If your card on file is expired, we will reach out to you directly and will ask for your bank account details to complete payment. Please provide us your updated details as soon as possible so there is no delay to the payment.

    If you have any questions about the status of your account, please contact support.

  • As per our existing policies and procedures, Uber Carshare may charge you additional amounts following the completion of your booking related to:

    • Damage claims
    • Penalties (parking, speeding violations, etc.)
    • Fees (smoking in the vehicle, late returns, etc.)
  • If you have an open damage claim, it will be managed by your dedicated Case Manager, who will guide you through the process until your claim is fully resolved. Your Case Manager is your primary point of contact and is there to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.
