As our communities start moving again, we want you to feel safe while driving with Uber. That’s why today we’re introducing new safety standards that bring together the power of leading experts and Uber’s technology.
Our new safety standards include:
In this together
We ask all riders to wear a face cover or a mask during the trip.
We also ask drivers to wear a face cover as well even if they have a protective shield installed – this is an important safety measure for your passengers that helps them feel safe and rate their on-trip experience better with fewer cancellations.
Before you can go online, you’ll be asked to take a photo of yourself to verify that you’re wearing a face cover or a mask. It should be kept on during an entire ride, even if the car is equipped with a protective shield.
Riders are also asked to sit in the back seat, to leave more space between each of you.
Accountability for everyone
Before you go online, you must confirm that you’ve taken specific safety steps. We’re asking all riders to follow a similar checklist before they can request a trip.
Both you and your rider can cancel the ride if the other is not wearing a face cover or a mask. Cancellations for this reason will not count towards your cancellation rate and won’t be a factor in determining your eligibility for Uber Pro. Keep in mind that in such cases, cancellation fees will not apply.
Ride Safety Feedback
Asking you to rate your rider isn’t new, but now you’ll be able to leave feedback on health and cleanliness issues, such as a rider not wearing a face cover or a mask. This helps us improve and holds everyone accountable.
As the world continues to change, we’ll continue working hard to make sure we change with it. Thank you for helping to keep your community safe.
