More ways to move for less: SuperGold cardholders to get exclusive savings on Uber and Uber Eats
Uber is proud to announce it is joining the Ministry of Social Development's SuperGold programme, giving eligible SuperGold cardholders exclusive savings across the Uber and Uber Eats platforms.
From this month, SuperGold cardholders new to Uber can access discounted Uber rides and a special introductory offer on Uber Eats, helping older New Zealanders save on everyday transport and delivery.
More than 900,000 New Zealanders are now aged 65 and over - a number projected to grow significantly in the coming years. As more Kiwis live longer and more active lives, access to reliable and affordable transport plays an increasingly important role in maintaining independence, connection and community participation.
Emma Foley, Managing Director of Uber Australia & New Zealand, says the partnership reflects Uber’s continued commitment to building practical solutions that support older Kiwis.
Access to reliable transport plays a vital role in helping people stay active and connected to the people and places that matter most,” says Foley.
“We’re proud to partner with the SuperGold programme to help make everyday trips and deliveries more affordable. Whether it’s getting to a medical appointment, visiting family, or having groceries delivered. It’s about making everyday life a little easier for older Kiwis, so they can get where they need to go comfortably and on their own terms.”
As part of the partnership, eligible SuperGold cardholders can access:
- New to Uber: 50% off their first five rides (up to $15 per trip). After completing the first five trips, all cardholders can also redeem an ongoing 5% off the fare on all rides (up to $5 per trip).
- New to Uber Eats: $20 off their first restaurant or grocery order over $30 (excluding fees).
- Existing Uber riders: 5% (up to $5 per trip) off the fare on all Uber rides.
The offer is available across Aotearoa New Zealand in cities and towns where Uber and Uber Eats operates, unless otherwise communicated.
The partnership builds on Uber’s broader work to improve accessibility for older adults. In 2024, Uber launched Uber Caregiver across New Zealand, enabling carers and family members to arrange and manage rides for those they support. This was followed by rollout of Senior Accounts and Simple mode in 2025 - features designed to make the app easier to use, with larger text, simplified booking screens, saved places and the ability for family members to assist with trip management.
SuperGold cardholders can visit the SuperGold website to learn more about how to redeem the offers and access full terms and conditions.
