Driving at Hamilton Airport (HLZ)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Pickups at the airport

Picking up from Hamilton Airport

To receive trip requests at Hamilton Airport, you will need make your way to the holding bay in the southern car park, which is to the left of the terminal. From this spot, you will be placed in a virtual queue where driver-partners who have been waiting longest will receive the first requests. When you’re at Hamilton Airport, the Uber Driver app will provide you with in-app directions to the designated area.

Drivers are not allowed to wait inside the airport, and you will only receive trip requests if you are in the southern car park.

Once you receive a trip request, you can pick up your rider from the Ride Share Pickup Zone, located near the Arrivals lounge.

    • Reject a request
    • End or cancel a trip
    • Go offline

  • Shortly after arriving in the airport holding zone on Airport Road, your position in the queue will appear in your Driver app. Remember that your position in the queue won’t always mean the same wait time; for example, position 15 can sometimes wait 30 minutes and other times only 5 minutes.

  • To ensure that traffic at the terminal is kept to a minimum and you are complying with the Hamilton Airport Operating Rules, pickups by driver-partners must only occur at the designated pickup area. If the rider is unsure about where to go, tell them to exit the terminal and follow the signs to the Ride Share Pickup Zone, near the Arrivals Lounge.

  • Driver-partners will need to pay a flat fee of $3.50 for all pickups – however, this fee will be automatically added to the rider’s fare and Uber will handle the collection of this fee on behalf of Hamilton Airport. • You should wait in the holding area at Airport Road located right outside the airport. Please note driver-partners are not allowed to wait inside the airport.
