Whether a driver made you laugh, charged your phone, or delivered 20 late-night pizzas, you may feel like thanking them beyond a 5-star rating. Tipping is another way to thank drivers for going the extra mile and providing a great experience.
Tipping is an easy way to recognize drivers for their excellent work, and it's always optional.
Don’t have time to tip in real time? No problem—you can tip drivers when it’s convenient for you. The option is also available from your receipt or from your trip history.
Whether it’s a verbal “Thank you,” a 5-star rating, or a $5 tip, there are many ways to express your gratitude. Pick what works for you.
You can add a tip after rating your ride. Tips can also be added from your trip history and trip receipt. You have up to 30 days after your trip is completed to give a tip.
Select a preset amount for your tip or enter a custom tip if you'd like to provide a different amount. With Uber Eats, delivery partners get 100% of your tips.
Tipping is optional. You are free to add a tip, and drivers are free to accept tips.
The easiest way to tip your driver is through the app. At the end of your trip, you’ll be prompted to rate your driver. Once you provide a rating, you’ll be given the option to add a tip. Giving cash directly to your driver is also an option.
You may need to update your app to enable tipping. Additionally, some drivers may opt to not accept tips via the app. You can always tip your driver in cash if you would like. You may also be in a region where in-app tipping isn't available yet.
Uber takes zero fees on tips.
Credits and gift cards will all work for tips. However, promotions cannot be used to tip your driver.
Options vary based on your city and region.
