In partnership with the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, today we launched the Drive to Thrive campaign to extend economic opportunity to 5,000 new women driver-partners in Chicago this year.

As part of our global commitment to bring 1 million women drivers on the Uber platform by 2020, this campaign will focus on Chicago women who are looking for a flexible and sustainable way to earn a living. It will also support YWCA’s efforts to equip women with the tools they need to thrive in the 21st century economy.

Women have told us they like to drive with Uber because it gives them a flexible and equitable earning opportunity — they can choose their own hours and be their own boss.

Both the YWCA and Uber also believe that access to transportation should never be a barrier to employment. In addition to targeted driver recruiting efforts, Uber will provide discounted rides to and from job interviews and training programs to women enrolled in the YWCA’s economic empowerment programs.

Thanks to you, we’re creating more economic opportunities for Chicagoans every day.
