Today, Uber operates in 48 cities around the world — but it all started in the 49 square miles between the Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Locals and visitors alike soon learned that if you’re going to leave your heart in San Francisco, you should probably forget it in an Uber; we’ll make sure your driver gets it back to you right away.

We’re all about celebrating the Uber way, which means getting more than just a ride on demand. Mariachi bands, boats, DeLoreans and even a unicorn have been an app tap away for Bay Area riders since the first request in 2009.

All kidding aside, the past three years have been a thrilling ride. The SF community team (featured below) is honored to kick off this #UberEverywhere campaign by sharing some of our favorite things to do in Uber’s quirky, foggy, ever-charming hometown.

Dolores Park: Here comes the sun! On those precious clear days in the city, grab a blanket and catch some rays in Dolores Park. This Mission favorite boasts San Francisco’s largest concentration of twentysomethings, puppies, and suspicious-looking baked goods. We’re especially partial to the late-night film screenings (recent offerings include The Princess Bride and Skyfall).

Smuggler’s Cove: “So a gang of artisanal bartenders walks into a pirate ship…” No, it’s not the start of a bad joke, it’s Smuggler’s Cove! With more than 400 rare varieties of rum to offer, this tiki bar is a drinker’s paradise. Order a Scorpion Bowl with your fellow shipmen if you really want to get the party started.

The Sutro Baths: Offering peace, quiet, and breathtaking ocean views, this perch will be a breath of fresh air for nature enthusiasts looking to avoid tourist traffic. Take a hike on the Lands End trail and then amble over to the remains of this ornate 19th century swimming complex.

Tamale Lady: Sometimes it’s about the person, not the place. Uber and the Tamale Lady are old friends, so we know that wherever she goes the party follows. If you’re out in the Mission or Lower Haight, your night isn’t over until you’ve tasted one of Virginia’s famous tamales.

Coupa Cafe: For Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurs, this Venezuelan café is the place to see and be seen. Stop in for a Tiger Spice Chai when you’re down the peninsula, and if you’re lucky, you might leave with some good startup gossip as well.
