About the Role
The Global Payments Acceptance team powers Uber’s payments platform, focusing on building processes to scale efficiently, executing against our acceptance, cost and risk KPIs, and improving the customer experience. Ideal candidates are process-oriented and results-driven. This role provides an opportunity to greatly impact our operations and partnerships to grow our payments offering globally. You will have the support of world-class cross-functional teams within Product, Engineering, Strategic Finance, Business Development, Operations, and Legal teams to design and build tools supporting the next generation of payments on our core infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Forge new and enhance existing global payments relationships; identify and execute on opportunities for performance improvement and cost savings with payment providers
Identify, size, prioritize, and pursue opportunities that improve our payments platform in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Analytics
Define, track, analyze, and own payments related performance metrics
Design onboarding and account management procedures for new and existing payment connections in partnership with Engineering, Risk, and Accounting
Stay up to date and informed on developments in the payments space, from regulatory trends, new payment methods and players, changes at the card networks, and other changes impacting Uber’s payments business
Work across internal and external stakeholders to help define Uber’s approach and strategy around payments
What You’ll Need
Current enrollment in the first year of a full-time MBA program
Minimum 3 years experience of relevant analytical and management experience in the technology, investment banking, or management consulting
Demonstrated interest in building e-commerce capabilities at an online, e-commerce, or marketplace merchant
Ability to lean in and set up a market from scratch, understand card acquiring considerations, and connect the dots globally with other payment methods
Highly analytical approach to approaching complex payments challenges in a two-sided marketplace
SQL skills and ability to leverage data to deep dive issues or to support a business case
Bonus Points For
Knowledge of card fee structures and network costs, in addition to an understanding of merchant categories, benchmarking, and merchant KPIs
Knowledge of card-not-present payments and alternative payment methods
