Marina District

Situated on San Francisco's northern waterfront, the Marina District sits at the edge of the San Francisco Bay, boasting views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. "The Marina", as it's called, is picturesque and brims with shops, restaurants, and bars. Home to the Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, and a vibrant Sunday Farmers' Market, there's no shortage of things to do and places to visit any day of the week in this neighborhood.

Union Street

Union Street, which runs horizontally across the northern part of the city, is lined with fine dining, art galleries, trendy boutiques, jewelry stores, spas, restaurants, cafes, and more. Festivals take place throughout the year along this historical street, such as the Union Street Music Festival, Fantasy of Lights, Easter Parade, Annual Union Street Harvest Wine Walk, and more. Walk north toward the waterfront from Union Street to enjoy views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz island.

Polk Gulch

Polk Gulch, located near the bay, is known for being the original center of San Francisco's LGBT community. The neighborhood is near Russian Hill as well as Nob Hill and is only blocks away from Fisherman's Wharf. Grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, markets, and cafes are all found in the area. Polk Gulch is also near the cable car museum.

North Beach

Known as San Francisco's "Little Italy", North Beach is home to plenty of restaurants as well as the beloved Washington Square Park, which offers ample green space and hosts various events throughout the year. North Beach is a popular dining destination for locals and tourists alike, home to cafes with outdoor seating and fine dining spots. Other attractions in this neighborhood include City Lights bookstore and the Vallejo Street Stairway, which offers views of the Bay.

Presidio

With community gardens, hiking and biking trails; and events open to the public, the 1,500-acre Presidio is a popular destination for outdoor activities in San Francisco. A former military post, the Presido is now home to the Walt Disney Family Museum, as well as offices, homes, and of course, expansive wilderness. With its northern edge bordering the waterfront, the Presidio is a popular place to relax, picnic, and enjoy views of the water and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Alamo Square

This residential neighborhood is home to the famous "Painted Ladies" houses on Postcard Row as well as Alamo Square Park, a hilly green park boasting amazing views of the San Francisco's downtown cityscape. NoPa and Hayes Valley are not far from this picturesque part of town, where visitors can find shops, cafes, and restaurants.
