Downtown

Downtown Oakland is a vibrant area home to popular attractions, trendy shops, museums, restaurants, and more. Some of its standout destinations include Preservation Park, the City Center Complex, and the African American Museum and Library.

Civic Center

Located on the east side of Oakland's central business district, the Civic Center neighborhood is home to a number of historic and government buildings, including a post office, the Social Security Administration, and two county government office buildings. Residences in the neighborhood include historic apartment buildings, single-family homes, and mixed-use buildings with apartments above retail spaces.

Northgate

Often lumped in with Uptown, Northgate is a small neighborhood with an Art Deco vibe, thanks to a large population of buildings that were built before 1939. Northgate is a thriving Oakland arts hub and features First Friday events and world class galleries, along with lots of public art. Cafes, bars, and restaurants offer a laid-back nightlife, and the New Parkway theater shows blockbusters and indie movies.

Lakeshore

The Lakeshore district in Oakland, California, is an easygoing social center that boasts numerous restaurants that include La Marcha Tapas Bar, Mezze, Shakewell, Moroccan Palace Restaurant, Michel Bistro, and Lakeshore Café. The Grand Lake Theater provides a cultural experience that's a throwback to its original days with the show tunes coming from the organ that rises from the floor. Residents and visitors can also enjoy the Grand Lake Farmers' Market, Splash Pad Park, and a variety of shopping experiences.

Old Oakland

The historic neighborhood known as Old Oakland is northeast of Broadway and across from Chinatown. You'll find historical architecture with Victorian styling, numerous locally owned shops, and a vibrant nightlife. Residents and visitors can enjoy dining at Cosecha Mexican Restaurant, DESCO Italian Restaurant, Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse, The Trappist, and many other eateries in the district.

Adams Point

Located on the North Shore of Oakland, California's, Lake Merritt, Adams Point is a community that features residential, business, and tourist areas. Some of the points of interest include the Earl Warren House, the Bellevue Staten Building, Children's Fairyland, and Lakeside Park. The community got its name from an early settler named Edson Adams and became a camp for those who were displaced by the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco.
