Rockridge

Rockridge, located in Oakland, is a commercial and residential neighborhood. The established area features stores with baked goods, indie bookstores, vintage shops, cafes, ice cream stores, and food markets. The ethnically diverse area also offers gourmet restaurants, antique stores, and the Rockridge Branch Library. Locals and tourists can visit the Firestorm Community Project.

Gourmet Ghetto

The Gourmet Ghetto is a nickname for the business district in Berkeley, California. This is where much of the California cuisine began. You'll find a variety of places to enjoy specialty coffee, local cuisine, and farm-to-table restaurants. This district has also been called "Gourmet Gulch." Alice Waters's restaurant Chez Panisse, a farm-to-table eatery started the careers of many former members of her staff who have opened their own bakeries and restaurants around the country.

Telegraph Avenue

Telegraph Avenue, located in Berkeley, runs through the historic downtown district. This culturally diverse area is home to restaurants, cafes, shopping, festivals, and outdoor entertainment. Telegraph Avenue is lined with cute shops and is also a destination for craft vendors selling clothing, artwork, and handmade wares.

College Avenue

Located in Berkeley, south of the University of California, Berkeley is College Avenue, a popular street lined with coffee shops, wedding stores, florists, grocery stores, and restaurants as well as apartments and homes.

Southside

Berkeley's Southside neighborhood is located directly to the south of the University of California campus. The most densely populated neighborhood in Berkeley, it houses a large number of students within its boundaries. Telegraph Avenue is the central gathering place in the neighborhood and features scores of bars, restaurants, shops, and sidewalk vendors.

Downtown

There's no shortage of places to eat and things to do in Downtown Berkeley, a vibrant area home to music venues, restaurants, bars, and more. Find food from a variety of cuisines here, like Japanese, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Persian, and more, in both casual and formal cafes and restaurants downtown. Some of its attractions include the California Theatre, the UC Berkeley Art Museum, and Pacific Film Archive. Music and nightlife abound with jazz, live music, nightclubs, and dancing.
