North

The community known as North Berkeley extends from the northwest part of the U.C. Berkeley campus all the way to Hearst Avenue. North Berkeley caters to a broad range of ethnicities, age groups, and income levels. This community features numerous eateries, including Bonchon Chicken, Tigerlily Berkeley, Ippudo, Nico's, Cheese Board Pizza, and many other local favorites. The population of the North Berkeley community is slightly over 22,000 and has a median household income of more than $100,000.

Westbrae

Located in northeast Berkeley, Westbrae is a residential neighborhood home to mission-style and craftsman residences. It is conveniently located 2.5 miles away from Golden Gate Fields, 4 miles away from Tilden Park Golf Course, and 2 miles away from Downtown Berkeley.

Downtown

There's no shortage of places to eat and things to do in Downtown Berkeley, a vibrant area home to music venues, restaurants, bars, and more. Find food from a variety of cuisines here, like Japanese, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Persian, and more, in both casual and formal cafes and restaurants downtown. Gourmet Ghetto

The Gourmet Ghetto is a nickname for the business district in Berkeley, California. This is where much of the California cuisine began. You'll find a variety of places to enjoy specialty coffee, local cuisine, and farm-to-table restaurants. This district has also been called "Gourmet Gulch." Alice Waters's restaurant Chez Panisse, a farm-to-table eatery started the careers of many former members of her staff who have opened their own bakeries and restaurants around the country.

UC Berkeley

Founded in 1868, the University of California, Berkeley, provides extensive research in a variety of industries, including medicine. Faculty, researchers, and alumni from UC Berkeley have been awarded numerous honors, including Turing Awards, MacArthur Fellowships, Wolf Prizes, Field Medals, Academy Awards, Olympic Medals, Pulitzer Prizes, and other prestigious awards. UC Berkeley offers 170 academic programs with a 17-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio.

4th Street

The area known as 4th Street is one of the most upscale shopping areas in Berkeley. Residents and visitors can enjoy an assortment of shops, including Crate and Barrell, Apple Store, Benefit Cosmetics, and Aveda. This area is host to various service-oriented businesses, such as Fourth Street Yoga, Ocean View Travel, and Playing Life Academy. Favorite restaurants in the 4th Street area include Bette's Oceanview Diner, Café Rouge, and Tacubaya.
