West End

A large, older neighborhood in Alameda, the West End is a close-knit, lower- to middle-class neighborhood covering a little over two square miles. Home to families with kids, young professionals, and retirees, this diverse neighborhood features a number of mom-and-pop businesses as well as local and national chain restaurants, stores, and grocery stores.

South Shore

South Shore is a community in Alameda, California, that extends from the original shore of the island and now has a series of manmade lagoons. This suburb has a blend of apartment complexes and single-family tract homes. The South Shore Center Mall and Crown Memorial State Beach are two of its most prominent attractions. The outdoor mall has chain stores, such as Ross Dress for Less, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, Old Navy, and others. Some of the restaurants in South Shore are MOD Pizza, Bowl'd Korean Barbecue, and the Trabocco Kitchen that features native California cuisine.

Downtown

Downtown Alameda sits across the bay from San Francisco and offers plenty of family-friendly businesses and things to do. The Historic Park Street District is a part of downtown Alameda. Grocery stores, art galleries, bookstores, produce, and more are available in the area. Donut shops, Chinese, seafood, and many more types of restaurants can be found in Downtown Alameda. Miniature golf, a center for the arts, an arcade museum, and more are downtown for locals and tourists to visit.

St. Elizabeth

St. Elizabeth is a community located in Oakland, California. Central to the neighborhood is St. Elizabeth Church and the area around it. St. Elizabeth is defined as the land between International Blvd., Fruitvale Ave., and 42nd Ave. Most Sundays, the neighborhood streets are crowded with churchgoers, visitors, vendors, and musicians.

Chinatown

Oakland's Chinatown is an Asian community home to the Asian Branch Library and Oakland Asian Cultural Center. The arts are thriving in this part of town, where several opera clubs are located. Visitors can find plenty of Chinese restaurants, as well as Chinese herbs, imported teas, and shops with traditional Chinese items in Chinatown.

Lakeside

The Museum of Children's Arts, the Alameda County Superior Courthouse, and the Oakland Public Library are all located near Lakeside, a historic Oakland neighborhood near downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt. There are a variety of businesses in the area including restaurants, cafes, bars, churches, and hotels.
