A storied movie palace, the Castro Theatre became the one-hundredth San Francisco Historic Landmark in 1976. The theatre features original murals, dramatic staircases; gigantic gold-framed mirrors, and an Art Deco chandelier dating back to 1937. The theatre screens a wide variety of movies, including old black-and-white noir pictures as well as independent and classic films. The theatre's occasional Sing Alongs invite families to sing loud and proud while enjoying a movie.
