Three brothers who immigrated from Taishan, China, opened Sam Wo Restaurant in 1906, making this historic eatery the oldest Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and late-night dining every day except Tuesday. Chow mein is among the most popular options on the Cantonese-leaning dinner menu and is available with duck, beef, chicken, barbecue pork or mixed vegetables. To drink, order a Hong Kong style milk tea served hot or cold.
