The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is a museum in the Rose Garden neighborhood of San Jose. Devoted to the art and lifestyle of ancient Egypt, the museum was founded by the Ancient Mystical Order of Rosae Crucis. The building was designed to look like the Temple of Amon at Karmak. Once inside, it feels as if you've entered another era. The museum houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on display in the United States. There are genuine mummies on display and a life-sized, walk-in tomb that emphasizes their elaborate burial processes and the desire to take their possessions with them in death. Docents are on hand to explain the artifacts and their significance to the Egyptian culture.
