The Maritime Museum is housed in the Aquatic Park Bathhouse Building, a 1938 WPA construction designed to resemble an ocean liner, with rounded ends and porthole windows. Located across the street from Ghirardelli Square, the museum is part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park. Dazzling 1930’s murals in the museum lobby depict colorful underwater scenes, and unique architectural details dazzle and delight. The museum itself showcases over 35,000 artifacts from San Francisco’s colorful maritime history.
