“어떻게 하면 모두의 교통 접근성을 높일 수 있을까?” 이러한 자문에 우버 코리아 팀은 타인의 도움이 필요한 교통약자들을 떠올렸고 그들을 위한 서비스의 필요성을 절실히 느꼈습니다. 이에 따라 현재 36개의 도시에서 이용할 수 있는 우버어시스트 (uberASSIST)를 한국에서도 출시하였으며 이는 기술의 힘을 통해 교통약자들의 이동의 제약에 대한 해결방안을 제시 할 수 있을 것입니다.

오늘부터 우버 앱 내의 우버어시스트 버튼만 누르면 장애인, 임산부, 노인 및 교통약자 승객을 모시는 데 필요한 지식과 안전 요구 사항에 대해 교육을 받은 기사를 호출할 수 있습니다.

한발 더 나아가 모든 우버블랙 (UberBLACK) 기사님들께서 양천구장애체험관과 굿잡자립생활센터에서 개발한 장애체험 교육을 마쳤습니다. 이번 협력을 통해 많은 기사님들께서 교통약자 고객을 제대로 이해하고 도움을 제공할 수 있게 되었다고 말씀하셨습니다. 교통약자 승객들이 이용할 수 있는 교통수단의 폭을 넓혀준 파트너들께 다시 한 번 감사드립니다.

우버어시스트 출시를 축하하기 위해 방한한 마이크 브라운 우버 아시아태평양 총괄은 “우버어시스트를 한국에 출시함으로써, 모든 사람이 언제 어디서든 편리한 교통 수단의 혜택을 누리는 세상을 만든다는 비전에 한걸음 더 다가가게 되어 기쁘다. 우버는 언제나 기술의 힘을 통해 교통약자의 접근성을 제고하고 이동의 제약을 줄이기 위한 노력에 지속적으로 동참해오고 있다. 오늘 우버어시스트의 출시는 한국의 승객 및 기사 커뮤니티에 기여하려는 우버의 열의와 지속된 투자 의지가 잘 반영되었길 바란다”고 말했습니다.

한국은 모두를 위한 우버(#UberforALL)가 되기 위해 우버어시스트를 출시한 7번째 국가입니다. 여기서 멈추지 않고 기술을 통해 모두가 더욱 편리하고 안전하게 움직일 수 있도록 끊임없이 노력하겠습니다.

A couple months ago, we asked ourselves “How can we improve transportation accessibility for everyone?” And we realized the need to introduce a new service that could provide additional assistance to riders with different accessibility needs. uberASSIST, which is currently available in 36 cities around the world, gave the Uber Korea team a thoughtful way to apply technology to this challenge and become part of the solution.

Starting today, riders can request a driver partner who has received training on the necessary knowledge and safety requirements for those who may require an extra hand when they travel — just by pushing a button!

What’s even better is that each and every one of our UberBLACK driver partners has completed training, which was created in partnership with the Yangcheon Center of Awareness for Disability & Human Rights and Good Job Center for Independent Living. More uberASSIST drivers means more options for people with accessibility needs, and we couldn’t thank our partners enough for making this possible.

As Korea becomes the 7th country in Asia to introduce uberASSIST, we hope to continue improving the everyday lives of all riders by leveraging our technology to overcome transportation obstacles.

Note: uberASSIST vehicles do not have accessible ramps or lifts.

uberASSIST is the same price as UberBLACK. No additional price will be charged.
