Initiatives for Road safety
We would like to introduce several initiatives here to help improve safety of our delivery partners.
Customer Consultation Desk
Uber Eats created the Customer Consultation Desk for not only Uber Eats users but also third parties who do not use our service.
Uber Eats proactively considers providing various measures to improve our service quality when we receive reports on the desk regarding dangerous drivings during deliveries and other inappropriate activities.
Collaboration with prefectural police
Uber Eats holds road safety events with the prefectural police in the areas where Uber Eats is serviceable. Through the events, we are enlightening delivery partners on the traffic rules compliance and driving techniques.
Uber also collaborates with the law enforcement bodies to provide information regarding traffic safety incidents, including hit and run accidents, to the extent permitted by law and contractual terms.
Holistic partnerships with outside stakeholders
Uber Eats partnered with external stakeholders to host safety events to safety awareness.
Road safety rule quiz in the onboarding process
Uber Eats introduced a quiz when delivery partners register themselves on the platform, as a means to educate delivery partners on road safety rules.
Road safety checklist
Uber Eats introduced the road safety checklist consisting of seven traffic good practices for bicycles.
Preparing against incidents and accidents
Insurance coverage for delivery partners
Uber Eats voluntarily provides insurance programs, which cover body injury and property damage for third parties, and personal injury of delivery partners during the trips under Uber Eats platform.
Helmet wearing
Uber Eats partnered with OGK Kabuto Inc. to explain the importance of wearing helmets during the delivery to delivery partners. Uber Eats also extends the coverage in the injury protection program for delivery partners who wear helmets, to increase the rate of wearing helmets among delivery partners.
