About the Role



Uber’s Internal Audit team is seeking a passionate leader to design and execute its data science strategy, and lead the Business Intelligence and Automation team. You will be responsible for spearheading the Internal Audit team’s transformation to a data-driven, world-class audit team. You will educate the members of Internal Audit and other stakeholders in how to implement and maintain data-driven risk management.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and mature Internal Audit’s Business Intelligence and Automation program:
  • Develop and execute data science and data technology strategies (including AI, machine learning, and RPA) to further the team’s global insight and foresight capabilities.
  • Lead Internal Audit’s initiatives to become a more data-driven team by improving its processes, tools and methodologies.
  • Provide business intelligence and data analytics advisory and execution support for all IA projects.
  • Partner with IA team members to define business intelligence and data analytics needs and objectives across all IA projects and activities.
  • Partner with cross-functional process owners across the Company on data-driven control improvements and drive implementation to ensure effective and timely execution
  • Create and implement risk sensing and monitoring platforms.
  • Cultivate strong relationships across the Company, particularly with other data science teams, to facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen data science practices.
  • Mentor and educate IA team members in data science, data analytics and data tools/technologies.
  • Assist the team with planning and management of IA projects, including risk assessment, planning, execution and post-remediation validation
  • Rapidly implement proofs of concepts across multiple processes / data sets;
  • Obtain necessary data for audit and advisory projects
  • Design and execute standalone data analytics to support audit findings and business requests.
  • Identify, develop and maintain continuous auditing/monitoring activities.
  • Lead a team that performs data mining and analysis to facilitate the identification and communication of outliers and trends in the business.
  • Administer and manage control self-assessments related to metrics management and disclosures of key user metrics
  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of data science professionals who could become data science leaders at Uber.


What You’ll Need


  • Minimum of 10 years of data analytics or business intelligence.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience building and leading teams, including coaching and mentoring team members
  • Bachelors or graduate degree in Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative field preferred
  • High degree of proficiency with business intelligence and analytical tools or programming languages (e.g., SQL, scripting languages such as R and Python, common open source packages (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, MapReduce), and visualization tools (e.g., Qlikview, Tableau).
  • Proficiency in quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, data mining, interpreting results, working with statistics, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with key stakeholders, regardless of technical ability or background. Ability to simplify recommended action plans coming out of complex data analysis projects


Bonus Points if


  • Experience using data analytics in audit, risk management, finance, consulting or related industry.
