About the Role


We are currently searching for a Safety Analyst to support the development of global policies on a wide range of screening challenges that Uber faces globally. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and to work on cutting edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.


The Safety Process and Standards team works with stakeholders globally to develop operational standards on important matters affecting safety (e.g., onboarding, screening, incident response), achieve greater consistency in implementation, identify gaps/weaknesses and remediate them, and design better process controls supporting our safety programs worldwide.


The Safety Analyst should be excited about the benefits technology can bring to enhance safety, passionate about Uber’s mission, and be opinionated on how Uber can work with our teams globally on safety solutions for drivers and riders.  We’re open to people who’ve been successful in other walks of life (e.g. the law, public policy) who intuitively understand and care for safety matters and are looking for a new challenge.


We are looking for candidates with great attention to detail to distinguish between market nuances. You’re a curious truth-seeker who works to identify the root of an issue as opposed to just addressing the symptoms. Compelling candidates should be able to clearly communicate and convince a cross-functional audience on proposed policies and process changes that impact safety.

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with Uber’s Safety & Insurance and Global Safety Support teams to provide analytical and research support for the development of global screening policies
  • Use quantitative and qualitative research, both internal and external, to support the design internal policies for a wide-range of issue types
  • Gather, analyze, and utilize relevant data to communicate insight and impact for screening policy recommendations
  • Collaborate with global operations teams to develop deep expertise on the issues facing Uber globally
  • Continually identify areas of improvement through research of industry best practice and explore effective solutions via 3rd party vendors
  • Provide in-depth readouts of vendor service offerings, limitations and operations; make recommendations on feasible solutions identified
  • Develop relationships with functional leaders and key stakeholders across global operations


What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of 3 years of industry or consulting experience in policy, risk mitigation, compliance, global operations, or related fields
  • Ability to tell clear, compelling stories out of complex issues and analysis
  • Influential with great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Analytical and data driven; passion for problem solving
  • You’re a details person; nothing gets past you in the fine print
  • Excellent analytical skills, including SQL
  • Experience working cross-functionally and taking on multiple tasks with rapid deadlines
  • Passion for improving Uber user experience with a focus on safety
  • International experience a plus
  • Experience with vendor engagement a plus
  • Experience in the background screening industry a plus
