Strategic Sourcing Manager - Legal Services

About the Role

Uber’s Strategic Sourcing team is evolving as the company continues to focus on the bottom line. We have the opportunity to show our global stakeholders the value of working with Strategic Sourcing. The Strategic Sourcing Manager, Legal Services is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for legal services-related procurement. This role will manage the Legal services category focused on driving cost savings, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and overall procurement excellence across law firms, legal tech providers, and other specialized legal service suppliers.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with the internal Legal leadership team, helping ensure they are able to hit their goals, while ensuring we are maximizing the impact of the budgeted dollars.
• Work closely with Strategic Finance, getting more involved in the planning cycle to elevate Strategic Sourcing’s ability to drive meaningful value for our Legal leadership team.
• Work with our stakeholders and supplier partners to raise the bar on scoping projects to ensure all parties are aligned on the expected output and are thinking through the most efficient way to get there .
• Partner with stakeholders to lead supplier selection activities including conducting RFI’s, RFP’s and renegotiations which may include the following:
• Lead total cost of ownership analysis and cost modeling.
• Lead negotiation plan development including mapping out detailed approaches, fallback positions, and acceptable terms and conditions.
• Lead contract and pricing negotiations.
• Identify and manage violations and exceptions to existing supplier contracts.
• Measure, manage and improve supplier performance against negotiated SLA’s and quality metrics.
• Implement and lead regular supplier business review meetings.
• Partner closely with the Legal contracts team supporting Legal Services not only on day-to-day deal support but also to be looking for constant process improvement ideas.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in the Strategic Sourcing field or relevant experience.
• Hands on experience leading Transformational Sourcing initiatives to mature purchasing practices and drive savings.
• Negotiation experience with a proven track record of savings.
• Experience managing global procurement responsibilities, using a strategic sourcing methodology, including: opportunity analysis and identification, supplier selection, risk and compliance evaluation, contract negotiation, and financial analysis.
• Ability to both develop strategic sourcing plans and dive deep in contract details with a solid understanding of how contracts are structured.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to build and implement strategic sourcing category plans that foster cross-functional alignment, elevate category influence, and deliver measurable impact.
• Experience with supplier report cards and supplier management.
• Self-starter who can build sourcing/procurement credibility within groups not accustomed to working with procurement.
• Excellent business judgment and high comfort level advising senior leaders
• Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions to build consensus.
• Clear communicator, team orientated, and willing to take initiative while thinking two steps ahead.
• Confidence and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Inquisitiveness, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$146,000 per year - USD$162,000 per year.
