About the Role

At Uber, our People Analytics team is at the center of using data to help our leaders make smarter, data-driven, people decisions. We aim to drive actionable insights across all aspects of the employee lifecycle: recruiting, selection, onboarding, development, retention, culture, and attrition. We are looking for an experienced data analyst to play a critical role in synthesizing people data into actionable information. In this role, this individual will be expected to both be hands on with querying/visualizing data and also bring their expertise to partner with our data engineering and product teams.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business partners to solve data needs in a scalable way
  • Use analytical tools and algorithms to analyze people data, create models, and develop ad-hoc analyzes
  • Partner with our People Technology and Engineering teams to design and implement extract/transform/load (ETL) processes, integrations and data structures that will help inform our people and business decisions
  • Manage access security for our analytics and visualization platforms
  • Formulate data-driven recommendations and tie people priorities to business outcomes
  • Build intuitive interfaces and visualizations that optimize for ease of storytelling and deriving actionable insights

What You'll Need

  • A passion to make an impact on how the world moves, be empowered to make decisions, and be challenged in your work every day
  • 5+ years of experience in data /analytics roles, particularly in transforming people data into business insights and recommendations using analytical tools
  • Thorough understanding of people data sources, structure, flow, uses and limitations
  • Strong business acumen. Ability to understand UBER's businesses and how data can inform our people and business objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with data across a variety of stakeholders to drive decisions
  • Expertise with relational databases, data warehousing, SQL, and proficiency with Tableau
  • Technical understanding of data warehousing/relational databases, business intelligence, and distributed applications/systems
  • Data-driven and highly analytical - you're able to translate data and insights into a meaningful story to drive strategy, action, and decision-making at an executive level
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to drive projects through end-to-end
  • Self-starter attitude - you boldly pursue your work and love the responsibility of being personally empowered
  • Curiosity - you're innovative and creative

About the Team

Our People Analytics function is looking for an experienced people data scientist to join our People Research team, a crucial function that helps guide the success of broader People team strategy. Team responsibilities include: owning, refining, and growing our central employee conversation channels and measurement toolkit; staying on the cutting edge of people research methodologies, academic perspectives, and predictive analytics; conducting long-term research studies to better understand the experience working at Uber and opportunities for intervention.

We are looking for researchers/data scientists who demonstrate past experience translating business objectives into specific data science initiatives and research projects with measurable and impactful outcomes. In general, the ideal candidate is excited at the prospect of combining applied quantitative research with the messiness of employee data, behavioral theory, and human emotion. Ultimately, you care most about using data to develop the long-term strategies required to ensure Uber remains a great place to work!
