About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Project Management professional to join our APAC COE to work for regional programs for the COEs. This role will help in managing, supporting, and monitoring a wide variety of site level and regional projects. In addition, the role calls for excellent fluency in both Japanese and English to cater to stakeholders and working teams.

From strategy development to calculated execution, you need to love getting into the weeds with problems to figure out how to break down barriers, improve our organizational capabilities and build sustainable solutions. You will be expected to think creatively, identify data trends, suggest improvements, and help in the creation of efficient processes. You will also have to understand and translate the local or cultural context and bring that value as we form strategies and design project execution.

This individual will work closely with leadership to make sure that each project runs and closes within scope, time, and even within budget as aligned with the business. You will be working with a driven Project Delivery team, employees, stakeholders, and management and will often be required to skillfully and intelligently multitask in a fast-paced environment. We have a small but highly capable and motivated team that drives APAC COE's regional and local strategy, goals and execution.

About the team

The Planning and Execution Team is responsible for leading strategy, planning, and delivery of banner projects and key initiatives across Uber's flagship centers of excellence in APAC. We are a diverse team of highly motivated individuals spread across our sites, collaborating with different sets of partners around the globe and in a wide variety of functions and departments.

What You'll Do

  • Manage, support and monitor various regional and site level projects, across multiple teams dealing with subject matters such as quality and service improvements, creating and improving capabilities, data analytics, migrations, people initiatives, reporting improvements, process standardization, and keeping track of plans, quality and timelines for such activities

  • Work with senior leadership for APAC and NA COE Lites to ensure we are able to achieve desired goals and work towards timely execution

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in both Japanese and English to ensure we accurately capture feedback for the completion of programs across multiple sites

  • Help ideate and work through end-to-end programs right through ideation, planning efforts and resources, execution, and timely coordination and closure of priority programs

  • Handle some strategic or ad hoc requests that may include administrative translation work for the APAC COE leadership

What You'll Need


  • Hands-on project management experience for at least 3 years

  • Excellent fluency and communication skills in both Japanese and English for written and oral mediums

  • A strong understanding of local North Asia (Japan) context and culture to add perspective to projects and tasks

  • Stakeholder management styles catered by stakeholder while providing consistent service delivery across different customers/stakeholders, functions, and levels

  • Problem solving skills and experience to understand situations and perceive context. Is able to read between the lines when necessary and creatively propose proactive and preventive solutions that address the root cause.

  • Clear exposure to senior leadership and strategy when it comes to reporting and/or creation of decks to represent projects

  • Independence in the event of remote reporting lines while still building strong relationships and a creative work environment with his/her manager, peers, and stakeholders across the distance

  • Excellent organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items. Ability to stay focused under pressure, prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment


  • Should have prior experience in project and stakeholder management in a scaled services organization

  • Should have worked in a bilingual role (Japanese and English) in the past

  • Has experience with remote reporting lines
