This addition to our team must be someone who takes initiative, and is experienced, organized, and willing to take on the responsibility necessary to make things happen. This role will report to our Managing Paralegal, Litigation, who is located in San Francisco.

What You'll Do

  • Manage service of process and mail intake
  • Manage and draft routine correspondence to consumer inquiries
  • Process pleadings and correspondence
  • Intake of new matters, and matter management
  • Manage payments requests and transmittals
  • Manage day-to-day calendaring/docketing of case deadlines
  • Maintain and update reference manuals and resource materials
  • Draft and implement litigation legal holds
  • Manage historical fact finding efforts and spearhead custodian identification
  • Assist with preparation of legal briefs, supporting declarations, and exhibits
  • Coordinate document collections/productions and liaise with eDiscovery team
  • Review third party data requests and prepare objections/responses including productions
  • Investigate underlying facts raised by small claims, demand letters, and demands for arbitration; draft response/prepare defense
  • Assist with special projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Civil litigation experience at large firm or in-house legal department
  • B.A./B.S.
  • Experience with litigation in both state and federal courts
  • Familiar with Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, GSuite

Preferred qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate. This is an assistant paralegal (non-attorney) track role.
  • Highly motivated, efficient, organized, and laser-focused on the details
  • Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently to get the job done, no matter how big or small the project
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across multiple levels of an organization
  • Calm in time sensitive situations; self-reliant and able to prioritize workload
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!
