Sr. Data Scientist- Experimentation

Data Science
in Palo Alto, California

About the Role

The Experimentation Data Science team works on a diverse set of challenging, impactful and interesting problems. This includes improving our current set of experimentation methodologies, as well as scoping and developing new ones. Our current suite of products includes techniques from applied econometrics to perform market-level experiments, in addition to the standard A/B framework. We ensure that every experimenter at Uber has the right tool for the job!

We also build, maintain and own the platform that powers all of experimentation at Uber and allows experimenters to harness the full power of our methodologies. If you want to see the rubber hit the road, this is the team for you! A key part of making this happen is writing production Python code - it is critically important that the statistics and econometrics techniques we use are correctly implemented, which is why Experimentation data scientists write this code. This is a huge growth opportunity to turbo charge your coding skills, which is a great long-term investment in your data science career! We do not expect candidates to already have these skills, but we do expect them to be excited to learn. Through close collaboration with other data scientists and engineers, code reviews, formal and informal training, our team will help you become a productive developer in the Experimentation Python packages.

What you'll do

Not only will you develop and implement innovative methodologies, you will also be involved at every phase of the experimentation lifecycle by collaborating with product teams. You will use your expertise to provide guidance on experimentation for some of the biggest initiatives at Uber - innovations in pricing and matching, new mapping technologies and even entirely new products. The impact and reach of our team is substantial - come be a part of it!
