iOS Engineer - Uber Elevate

iOS, Engineering
in San Francisco, California

About the Role

The iOS engineer will focus on developing products that deliver the end-user experience for UberAIR (passenger-carrying) and Drone Delivery (food-carrying) operations. The role will be to extend Uber's Rider and Eats apps to support new products and build a Pilot app to power Elevate flight operations.

What You'll Do

  • Build delightful end-user facing user experiences for all Uber Elevate products.
  • Work within existing Uber apps to build and extend them to support new capabilities.
  • Work in a cross-functional team (engineers, designers, product) to deliver on critical business goals for Elevate.
  • Build high-performance features and apps which scale to millions of end-users.

What You'll Need

  • Extend existing mobile architectures (e.g. RIBs) and tackle complex dependency management challenges.
  • Strong design sense and ability to collaborate with product managers and designers to balance quality, speed, and scalability.
  • Thorough understanding of iOS frameworks and capabilities, along with best practices.
  • Strong test-driven mindset with a clear eye towards production stability.
  • Bias toward action. You believe that speed and quality aren't mutually exclusive. You've shown good judgment about shipping as fast as possible while ensuring your products and platforms are built in a sustainable, responsible way--and you're comfortable making mistakes, provided you learn from them.
  • At least 2+ years of mobile development.

About the Team

The candidate will be assigned to the software engineering org within Elevate and initially report to the Engineering Manager, Airspace Systems. The candidate will closely collaborate with other engineers, product managers and designers to deliver on their day-to-day goals. The candidate will need to thrive in a fast moving and multidisciplinary environment.
