This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a global legal team integral to a company engaged in cutting edge technology and focused on solving some of the biggest legal challenges in the world - including changing the way regulators, courts and legislators think about the future of work. This position will report directly to the Head of Employment for Spanish Speaking LATAM based in Mexico City.

What You'll Do

  • Provide practical legal advice to the people ops team on a full range of employment matters including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, compensation, benefits, and terminations in Spanish Speaking LATAM (Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay)
  • Prepare documentation for all stages of litigation and alternative dispute resolution procedures across Spanish Speaking LATAM
  • Draft and review a wide range of employment documents, including employment contracts, restrictive covenant agreements, assignment letters, separation agreements and policies and handbooks
  • Partner closely with employment lawyers in US & Canada, EMEA and APAC, the Spanish Speaking LATAM Legal Team, and the Policy team, on a variety of projects, initiatives, investigations and risk management
  • Partner closely with the business to look after our business model
  • Research and learn about independent workers in the gig economy and the future of work.

What You'll Need

  • Law Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience as an attorney within a recognized legal firm, a multinational company, or private equity firm, but we will consider other candidates with relevant experience
  • Regional experience in Mexico and at least two other countries in LATAM
  • Highly motivated, creative, and laser-focused on the details; work independently; able to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; thrive under pressure
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to drive projects, prioritize and earn the confidence of your team members
  • Strong research skills and can communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
  • When you see an issue that needs addressing, your instinct is to jump in and address it
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish

Bonus Points If

  • Postgraduate degree (LLM or the equivalent)
  • You have experience working closely with HR
  • You have in-house and law-firm background
