Manager, Global Airports Business Operations

About the Role

This role will drive strategic alignment across airports teams globally. You will help drive alignment on strategic initiatives, execute on global projects, deep dive with teams that need additional support to grow the airports business globally. Based in Seattle, but working with teams across the world, this role will provide critical business insights to help identify, quantify, and enable teams to improve the rider experience on these critical trips for customers. This role will drive visibility into the health of Uber at airports, creating strategic frameworks to prioritize resourcing and drive growth. Leveraging deep analytical experience from challenging environments in the past, this person will deep dive on challenging strategic problems and push forward on key initiatives in the airports division. If you love finding truth and insight into tough, unstructured problems and working with senior leaders in the organization to bring those insights into meaningful change, this role is for you.

The ideal candidate for this role should have strong analytical skills, structured thinking, great problem solving, excellent stakeholder management and the ability to clearly communicate, listen and present.

What You'll Do

Execution of a global strategy

  • Lead alignment between the global airports strategy and the nuances in various countries across the world. You will learn the landscape, opportunities and constraints of how airports operate globally and help translate our strategy into global execution that aligns with the strategy of the local region
  • Create the right communication and operating cadence across global airport teams and cross functional business partners including Marketing, Business Development, Finance and Tech. Steward the information flow across the organization
  • Run point on the key forums to drive a one team mindset across airports via MBRs, global meetings, newsletters

Create scale

  • Leverage the geographic diversity of Uber's operations by scaling best practices across regions
  • Work with global teams to identify operational gaps and opportunities, problem solve and bring in the right experts and resources
  • Working closely with other members of the Uber team, measure the impact and efficiency of key initiatives, helping us lean in to what's working and pivot when necessary

Deep dive and problem solve

  • Drive analysis on strategic decisions with the goal of continuously improving the Uber rider experience across our economy, premium, and specialty services for airports
  • Act as a utility player across regions, stepping up to support key global initiatives and drive operational results
  • Be a hustling multi-tasker, supporting teams across the globe. You'll be one of the go-to people when anyone needs an objective, data driven assessment of a situation or to step in and support key projects in a specific region.

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years experience of consulting / business intelligence / strategy or related experience
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills.
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Strategic, data driven thinking and solutions oriented mindset
  • Self-motivated, works independently and possesses strong organization and time management skills
  • Technical analytical skills are a plus e.g., SQL, Python, R experience / proficiency
  • Bachelor's degree required

Travel is in many ways the heart and soul of Uber. Trips to and from the airport account are a key part of Uber's trips and gross bookings, and the overall percentage of ground transportation at airports fulfilled by Uber is still quite small. Airport trips are many riders' first use case, and these trips have higher average fares and a higher mix towards more profitable products. But "travel" can encompass much more than this - it could be the experience of using Uber in a new city or relying on Uber when on the road for business, trips between cities that substitute for a train or a rental car, and ultimately travel experiences that Uber doesn't touch today.
