About the Role
The Reliability Platform team at Uber is part of Uber Infrastructure and is responsible for building foundational Observability tools and experiences designed to accelerate the productivity of Uber's engineers.
Headquartered in New York City and with teams in San Francisco and Vilnius, the RelPlat team develops and operates a portfolio of measurement, monitoring, tracing, logging, analytics platforms to keep Uber highly reliable and provide extreme leverage to software developers across Uber. This team has a wide range of difficult engineering problems to solve, ranging from building intuitive user experiences to hard distributed systems problems, spanning the full range of large scale infrastructure platforms.
This organization has a commitment to Open Source software, and currently has two popular projects on Github
What You'll Need
The team seeks a senior engineering leader, who has built and managed sizable (40-80) engineering teams. It will require solid experience building large-scale distributed systems and the ability to work and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders.
* Software engineering skills - Wide experience building and operating large scale Infrastructure services with high quality * Deep understanding of issues running large scale services in production reliably, with low operational overhead * A keen interest in user experience and building the right solution through quick iterations and feedback * Ability to create vision and direction for the team in collaboration with numerous engineering stakeholders * Ability to execute strongly within a large, loosely structured organization, with rapidly changing requirements * Highly effective communication skills - needs to drive discussions / roadmaps with other engineering leaders within Uber and negotiate conflicting priorities. * A track record of attracting strong technical talent and providing mentorship to grow them further
